WINTER
Community Recreation
We love to give back to our community. YXU is your easy, comfortable and FUN airport!
Aviation is our core, but with some available space on our property, we wanted to have some fun and give back to our community. It started with a Pickleball court in our parking lot and has expanded to a Beach Volleyball court in the summer and an Ice Rink in the winter months. In 2022, we opened our city's first plane spotting park to be enjoyed year round. We're proud to provide safe, fun spaces for staff, tenants and the general public to come out and enjoy with friends and family!
YXU Community Ice Rink
(Closed for the Season)
07:00 to 21:00 every day, including outdoor lighting and a hut to get ready in.
The availability is dependent on consistent cold temperatures, so stay tuned on our social channels @flyyxu for updates.
To find the rink, head east to the end of Oxford St. and turn left down Crumlin Sideroad. Go around the bend on and onto Hurricane Rd. Free parking is available along the fence in front of the Airside Operations Center, east of the rink. Please do not park along the road coming in on Hurricane Rd/Spitfire Rd.
The rink is ‘use at your own risk’ and is not supervised. Children 5 years of age and under must wear CSA approved helmet. The London International Airport strongly recommends that all users wear CSA head protection.
SUMMER
Pickleball
(Closed for the Season)
Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in North America and combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It’s played on a badminton-sized court with a modified tennis net using a paddle and plastic ball with holes. It is a game that is appropriate for players of all ages and skill levels.
If you don’t have a racket, head over to our security operations center (inside the terminal before departures, to the right) to borrow equipment, free of charge. Please bring a piece of photo ID to exchange for duration of use.
The outdoor court is located on the Northeast side of our parking lot. It’s open from 08:00 to 20:00 and is free to use. Parking rates are only $2 per hour at the London International Airport and helps to support more fun and games to come to the airport in future.
Beach Volleyball

In the summer season, our YXU Beach Volleyball court is open from 07:00 to 21:00 every day and is not monitored, please use the court respectfully. It is “bring your own ball”, we do not provide equipment, other than the net that is set up.
The court is located north of the Airport, Head north up Crumlin Sideroad, go around the bend on and onto Hurricane Rd. Free parking is available along the fence in front of the Airside Operations Center, east of the court. Please do not park along the road coming in (Spitfire Rd).

YXU Air Park
London’s first public plane spotting park. Located on Creamery Road (off Dundas St.), plane spotters can enjoy optimal views of aircraft landing and taking off from the most frequently used runway at YXU, Runway 15-33.
YXU Air Park is equipped with a parking lot and informational signage to educate park visitors on London’s rich aviation history, most common aircraft types to land at YXU and more!
